Backing up REDCap

There are no customizations to the stock REDCap web application, so there are no custom Web server files that have to be accounted for. Thus the focus of any backup activities would revolve around the MySQL database. This can be done several different ways:

  • The more automated (and best) approach would happen at the system level by running regularly-scheduled backup scripts of the REDCap schema in the MySQL database. This will backup all of the data on the REDCap installation regardless of project. Consult with the system admin of the REDCap host to determine the backup strategy.
  • The myARCH REDCap project can also be backed up manually from the REDCap home page
